One Drum Screening - Fri, 3 Feb 2017

Yoga is a tool for change. Rooted in compassion and connection, we are called to awaken to suffering and take action in response, creating a peaceful,  just and connected global community.

Caring for Country is a road trip creating conversation for change at 20 destinations throughout NSW and starting in Redfern. This gound breaking trip is about addressing the gradient of respect in this country by starting a conversaton in which our communities can connect with country, culture and each other.

Meet One Drum movie maker Harley Van Valen at this screening of his movie One Drum, a film about a road trip from New York City to Rio De Janeiro in a 1978 VW Kombie named Betty. In September 2007, Steve, Betty and Harley left New York City on an adventure of a life time, travelling through Central and South America for carnival in Rio De Janeiro in February 2009.  The adventure was to be about experiencing new cultures and living the way they wanted to. Along the way They interviewed people about 'what's important in life' in a search for the answer within ourselves.

With this event we will establish links & open doors between local communities and Australia's First Peoples. We will be engaging the wider audience to the YARN Australia Vision, which is: Cultivating communication, mutual respect, understanding and pathways of learning to develop deeper connections between all Australians.

The trip will raise funds for One Drum movie maker Harley Van Valen to continue his journey around Australia creating his next movie based on the First People's communities whom he will visit.
